Sun 12 May 17.00 - 23.00
Leroy Shoreditch 18 Phipp St, Hackney, London EC2A 4NU, UK EC2A4NU LONDON
On Sunday 12 May BASTARDA will be taking over Leroy in Shoreditch to celebrate the Real Wine Fair, taking place 12th and 13th May in Wapping’s Tobacco Docks. Joined by Tillingham Wines and equipped with an entire barrel of new release wine, BASTARDA will be live-bottling whilst Leroy breaks rank from its usual offering to grill up lamb skewers from Tillingham’s farm in Sussex. BASTARDA and Leroy will also be curating a one-off wine list comprised of their favourite producers from the fair. BASTARDA is known for its tendency for pulling in fun crowds and this event is likely to be no different. Previous collaborations have included have included Chef Anais Van Manen at Giant Steps in Hackney Wick, Empirical Spirits from Copenhagen, Store Studios X and a dining series with Michelin-starred Elizabeth Haigh.
Tillingham is a wine-producing estate, spread over 70 acres of countryside in East Sussex. Their first wine was launched in May 2018 and sold out within weeks. Over the last year, their wines have been listed by top Michelin-rated restaurants, as well as some of the most respected places to drink across the country. Striving to make the best wines possible, they are also changing the landscape of winemaking in the UK: the first winemaker to import Georgian Qvevri, Tillingham is quickly becoming known as the ‘one to watch’.
“‘English wine will be in a better place when we stop copying others... Walgate is one of the first to really start to define what can be a progressive, creative future.’ – Ed Thaw, owner at Leroy, Shoreditch
