In 2017, Chef José Andrés and his World Central Kitchen team activated 26 kitchens across Puerto Rico and cooked 3.6 million meals for people in need. In the process, WCK developed a new model for feeding after a disaster, leveraging private sector experience and logistics, local resources and building a network of chefs and producers. Since then, this model has been deployed in Southern California, Hawaii, Guatemala, and recently for the wildfires in Northern California.
