The Perego family make wine in the mountainous Valtellina, so far north in the Italian alps, it's practically Switzerland. They work with Nebbiolo grapes (or "Chiavennesca as it is called in this region) up to 700m above sea level, south-facing absorbing all the sunlight. The vines dig into the sheer granite rock, which results in a very mineral wine.
